Welcome Back!

I hope that everyone had a fun-filled summer break, packed with physical activity. As the summer comes to a close and fall approaches its time to gear up for the start of a new and exciting school year.

I am very excited to be back at Thetford Elementary and I look forward to working with your child this year. Your child will be working on his or her knowledge of motor skills as well as the development of these skills. They will work on achieving and maintaining a health-enhancing level of physical fitness. While in PE your child will be exposed to a variety of activities that are meant to promote individual success and self-confidence. We will also be working on responsible personal and social behavior; how your child will interact within a group setting. They will also be expected to show safe behavior for self and others at all times. Following the expectations of the school and of my classroom will allow the class to move smoothly and safely. Your child’s safety is my main priority and the expectations are in place to make my class a safe place.

While there is no letter grade in PE, participation and attitude greatly affect your student’s comments on their report card (Please see the participation rubric). Your child only has PE twice a week and its imperative that they make the most of their time. Along with participation please make sure that your child has the proper footwear on the day that he or she has PE. Sneakers are the desired footwear for PE since your child will be moving constantly (boots, sandals, crocs, or open toed shoes are not proper footwear). It helps to leave a pair of sneakers at school. Thank you for understanding. I look forward to a great school year and please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
