Thetford Elementary School

 

The Board participated in a Joint Meeting of the OESU School Boards at Oxbow High School Library beginning at 5:30pm.  The Agenda:  Sharing of Strategic Plans; Update of Systems Changes in Student Support; and K-3 Literacy Guide.

 

         Andy Boyce convened the Thetford School Board meeting at 7:40PM at Oxbow High School.  The following were present:  Andy Boyce, Robin Brown, Kristin Downey, Jennifer Reining, Susan Weider, School Board; Wendy Hovey, Jennifer Andrews, and Bryant Patten, OESU

 

Agenda Review – added: an executive session for personnel issue

 

Action items – none to report on

 

Minutes – MOTION:  (Reining/Weider) moved/seconded to approve the minutes of the meetings 5/8/o7 and 5/15/07, the latter as amended; aye – Boyce, Brown, Reining, Weider; abstain - Downey.  The minutes of the 5/15/07 meeting recorded Marty Jacobs as present.  She was not.  Marty Bouchard was present at the 5/15/07 Board meeting for the first executive session.

 

Orders – none

 

Public Comment – Bryant Patten gave the Board an update on Thetford Academy Academic Affairs.

 

7:45PM Bryant Patten and Jennifer Andrews left the meeting.  Carroll Royce, OESU Literacy Teacher Leader, and Pat Nally, Waits River Valley Title I Teacher, joined the meeting.

 

Discussion of ŇA TeacherŐs Guide to K-3 Literacy Instruction.  A Three Block ModelÓ by Patrick Nally and Carroll Royce.

 

7:55PM  Carroll Royce and Patrick Nally left the meeting.

 

Executive Session - MOTION:  (Weider/Reining) moved/seconded to go into Executive Session at 7:56PM to discuss a personnel issue, the premature dissemination of which would clearly place the Board at a significant disadvantage; unanimous.

Out of Executive Session at 8:03PM.  No action

Correspondence  - Tuition request.  Discussion.

 

8:10PM  Wendy Hovey left the meeting

 

 MOTION:  (Weider/Reining) moved/seconded to deny the tuition request and authorize the chair to send letter of denial to the petitioner; unanimous.

 

Adjourned:  MOTION:  (Weider/Reining) moved/seconded to adjourn at 8:23PM; unanimous.
