Paul Sachs, Moderator, convened the Carousel meeting at 6:00PM.

Open Discussion – Legislative Review/Issues of Public Interest: Cost Shifts for Vermont Education, Alternative Ways to Fund Education, Unfunded Mandates, and Governance.

8:15PM Andy Boyce convened the Thetford School Board meeting at Oxbow High School. The following were present: Andy Boyce, Robin Brown, Jennifer Reining, Susan Weider, School Board; Alice Worth, Principal

Action items – none to report on

Minutes – none to approve

Orders – none to approve

Correspondence - Andy Boyce received a reimbursement request for secondary education tuition. He will get back to that person.

Reports

Principal’s Report – Alice Worth is working on coordinating a meeting in the next few weeks with Martha Rich, Thetford Academy Head. Topics to discuss: math curriculum as well as a discussion about comprehensive guidance services.

8:40PM Peter Herman joined the meeting and shared the VSBA’s role in regards to how they support our local School Board. He spoke about School Board conferences available to us. He asked us to think about having one member on our Board be the legislative liaison to keep track of what is going on in the legislature. Andy Boyce will be the Board’s legislative liaison and report to the Board at the October 23_rd meeting.
