FROM THE PRINCIPALÕS DESK:

At this time I would like to announce the retirement of two of our teachers, both of whom will be greatly missed for the many contributions they have made to the Thetford school community.  Nancy Cressman and Mary Corrigan are both leaving to pursue what sound like awesome post-teaching lives and goals.  We wish them the very best and look forward to a continued connection and hearing about their changing lives after they leave us in June. I hope you will all have an opportunity to talk with them personally and express your appreciation for all they have done for TES.

·          Search Committee

The TES Board of School Directors has charged a search committee with the responsibility of identifying candidates for open teaching positions for school year 2007/08.  As the committee will have two parent representatives, we are asking for volunteers at this time. Interested parents must be willing to attend all meetings.  We anticipate four to five meetings beginning Wednesday April 25th and ending no later than May 22 with a total of approximately twelve to fifteen hours of commitment. If you currently have a child at TES and would be interested in serving in this capacity, we welcome the submission of a brief statement explaining your interest and contributions you could make to this process. Please send this to me at school by April 4th.  Thank you!

Thetford Teacher Search Committee Charge

The Thetford Board of School Directors charges the Thetford Teacher Search Committee with the responsibility for identifying highly qualified candidates for teaching positions at Thetford Elementary School.  The Search Committee shall have representatives from Teachers, Staff, Administrators, Parents, and the School Board.  This process shall start on April 25th and conclude with the list of qualified candidates being brought before the Board.  The Search Committee will not be deciding which candidates will be offered positions but rather which applicants are appropriate candidates.

All Search Committee meetings shall be warned and be open to the public.  The Search Committee will review candidate materials and deliberate in Executive Session as needed.  The Search Committee shall keep meeting minutes and post a copy within five working days following each Search Committee meeting

·          Sixth Grade Parent Night to Learn About Life at TA

Save the date: Monday April 30th from 6:30-8:00 PM at TES.  This is an opportunity to ask questions of students and staff at TA and learn about the inner workings of Thetford Academy.  Prior to the event, TA booklets will be sent home from TES with your child. This is a new event and one we hope will help clarify your understanding of the transition process and build connections to TA. It will coordinate with the traditional visitation day which will take place at TA on May 23rd. The PTO will be helping with this event by providing childcare and refreshments.  In addition, to help facilitate a successful evening,  Roxanne Eastman has offered to collect questions for consideration should you wish to pose these ahead of time.  You can email to Roxanne Eastman at re123@valley.net and she will forward them on to me and Martha Rich.
