10 FROM THE PRINCIPALŐS DESK: The Jeh Kulu Dance and Drum Theater put on a
spectacular performance on Tuesday January 29 as a culmination of their
two-day residency here at TES.
During the residency, all of the students participated in West African
dance instruction and some of the children danced on stage during the
performance. Staff and Board
member Robin Brown also braved the limelight even through we didnŐt have
lessonsÉthe improvisation looked quite professional! This event was brought
to us through the leadership of the TES Art Team, which includes Mary
Wunderlich, Kelly Lewis, Jennifer Yocom and Georgia Buckner. Keith Thompson
also supported the program in collaboration with physical education
classes. The Jeh Kulu dance and
drum performance was a powerful mix of color, sound and rhythm that
captivated all the children. I
hope they shared their excitement about this program with you at home. CROSS
COUNTRY SKIING IS CANCELLED FOR TOMORROW, FRIDAY FEB 1. Trails
are hard and icy and conditions are not suitable for skiing. Please pick up your children by 12:30
at TES or instruct them to take the bus home. School Announcements: The Health Office is looking for donations of a few
(5-6) new or gently used single bed sheets, either flat or fitted, for our
bed in the office. Please
contact Joette or Wendy if you can help. Mud Season Madness planning is in full swing, and
class offerings are shaping up nicely.
We hope to offer multiple choices for all age groups; but because we
depend on volunteers, there may be more possiblities for those in the older
grades. This is one last call
for instructors, particularly those interested in holding classes for
children in the lower grades.
Please contact Darla or Wendy at TES by Tuesday, February 5, if you
can help. MSM booklets will be
sent home with students before the February recess so families can have time
over the break to look over the options. March is just around the corner!! Mark your calendars for the TES Talent Show on
February 13! A performance for
students and staff will be offered in the afternoon, and parents and friends
are invited to an encore performance that night. Times will be announced
soon. Community Calendar and
Announcements: Sunday, February 3: Second annual free showing of the classic film, Gandhi, at
4 pm at the First Congregational Church on Thetford Hill. This alternative Super Bowl
Sunday celebration of nonviolence will include a half-time break for chili
and refreshments. Don't confuse
nonviolence with inaction. The story of Gandhi's life is filled with struggle
and triumph and will keep you on the edge of your seat for the full 3 hours
play time. The First Congregational Church on Thetford Hill is
handicapped accessible. Please
park at the rear of church parking lot and take the elevator to upper floor. There is a
handicapped accessible bathroom on the upper floor as well as an area for
wheelchair seating. Questions:
contact Christina Robinson at 785-4012. Tuesday and Wednesday, February 5 and 6: Baseball and Softball registration in
the TES Lobby at 7:30-8:30 am and 4:30-5:30 pm each day. |
