FROM THE PRINCIPALÕS DESK:

Please note that to make up a snow day school will be held Monday, March 3rd.

To promote healthy foods and encourage better eating habits through our lunch program, we thought weÕd periodically try new recipes and ask the children to ÒRate That RecipeÓ. On Wednesday March 19th weÕll be trying a new vegetable laden spaghetti sauce. Look for it on the March menu and please encourage your child to try it and participate in our interactive rating activity!

Reminder: The Thetford Annual Town meeting is this Saturday March 1st beginning at 9:00 AM in Anderson Hall (Thetford Academy).  Voting is Tuesday March 4th. Polls are open from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the Thetford Town Hall.

From the PTO:   As we get closer to spring, plans for next year begin to creep into~conversations. The PTO is graduating at least two officers and is in need of volunteers to step forward. Cheryl Twerdowsky, our amazing Treasurer, would like~her replacement to begin this spring so that~she can~help him or her~to "learn the ropes" and benefit from her~presence throughout the remainder of this year. So,~all of~you who love to see how things add up~- this is your moment to shine! We need your help! Please contact any of the PTO officers, or come to a PTO meeting, with questions or a commitment!

Baked goods are being recruited for the Town Meeting PTO bake sale. This is a standard PTO event carried out, not really as a fundraiser, but, as a community service. The PTO makes (on average) less than $100 for the bake sale (which begins at 7:30am for the volunteers who staff it and runs until 12:00pm and represents a substantial logistical effort to solicit, gather and transport~all the food and supplies to Anderson Hall) but to many residents buying~coffee and a donut~is~as much a part of ~Town Meeting as anything to do with the warned articles so, the tradition continues...

In addition to the efforts of the volunteers who set up and staff the table, the bake

sale committee is recruiting the following:

muffins (any kind is fine)

~scones (any kind is fine)

        bananas, apples, or oranges

bar cookies or brownies (no coffee cakes please - they're too messy for this event)          one large can of regular coffee for the coffee maker (Maxwell House is fine)

one smaller can of decaffeinated coffee

        100 sugar packets

1 box of Sweet n Low packets

        1 box of coffee stirrers

        1 large~package of napkins

If you can donate any of these items, please reply to turtlepond@netzero.net~with details of your contribution.~Donations should be~dropped off at the TES office this Friday morning (February 29th) by 9am. If that drop off plan doesn't work for you - let me know and we'll make other arrangements!

Thank you!  Cathee Clement  PTO Secretary
