FROM THE PRINCIPALÕS DESK:

At this time IÕm sad to have to inform the school community that Meredith Moore will be leaving TES at the end of the school year to move with her husband to the Boston area where he will be pursuing his career interests after this springÕs graduation from the Tuck School.  Meredith will be greatly missed as she has contributed significantly to the growth and development of her students and the school in general.  We wish Meredith and Gabe the best of luck and hope that they will return for a visit.  We are in the process of advertising for a new faculty member who will take responsibility for a 4th grade classroom.

Search Committee

The TES Board of School Directors has charged a search committee with the responsibility of identifying candidates for open teaching positions for school year 2008/09.  At this time we are asking for two parent volunteers who would like to assist with this search. Interested parents must be willing to attend all meetings.  We anticipate four to five meetings beginning Tuesday April 22 at 3:30 and ending no later than May 8th with a total of approximately twelve to fifteen hours of commitment. If you currently have a child at TES and would be interested in serving in this capacity, we welcome the submission of a brief statement explaining your interest and contributions you could make to this process. Please send this to me at school by April 10th.  Thank you!

Thetford Teacher Search Committee Charge

The Thetford Board of School Directors charges the Thetford Teacher Search Committee with the responsibility for identifying highly qualified candidates for teaching positions at Thetford Elementary School.  The Search Committee shall have representatives from Teachers, Staff, Administrators, Parents, and the School Board.  This process shall start on April 22nd and conclude with the list of qualified candidates being brought before the Board.  The Search Committee will not be deciding which candidates will be offered positions but rather which applicants are appropriate candidates.

All Search Committee meetings shall be warned and be open to the public.  The Search Committee will review candidate materials and deliberate in Executive Session as needed.  The Search Committee shall keep meeting minutes and post a copy within five working days following each Search Committee meeting

On Wednesday March 19th we tried a new vegetable laden spaghetti sauce and were encouraged by the participation and enthusiasm from the students. The results of the ÒRate That RecipeÓ survey indicated that we should try this again.  120 students purchased the original recipe and 92 said they liked it, with 86 enthusiastically endorsing it with an ÒIÕd like it againÓ response. We did receive several suggestions for modifications, which will be in place when the recipe is served on April 28th.  One pot of sauce will be the original recipe and another will be prepared without raisins. In addition, meatballs will be available on the side for those who would like them. Another new recipe on the menu this month is Spanish Rice which will be served on April 9th. A breakfast bar with assorted choices will be served April 24th.

The TES PTO is desperately seeking a new Treasurer!  ThatÕs right, the PTO is in need of a new treasurer for next year.  In order to get our next treasurer up to speed, we need someone to step forward soon so that our current treasurer, Cheryl Twerdowsky, can pass on the information she has.  The PTO is an important parent volunteer organization at TES, so please consider this position!  For more information, contact Cheryl Twerdowsky at cheryl_twerdowsky@yahoo.com or 333-7030.

ItÕs that time of year again!  Our lost and found is full of winter weather gear.  Please check the piles soon; all will be donated to the Listen Center at April break.  Also, remember mud season is almost upon us.  Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately and have clean dry clothes in their backpacks.
